ACSCR: Number 193: The World Legacy

The World Legacy. One of the biggest Storylines in the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG, spanning the entire VRAINS Aera and containing more than 7 Archetypes. Because the card I talk about today shows the End of the Storyline, I will not go too deep into the Story itself, but to get the general idea, here is the gist of it: In the, not named, World in which this Story takes Place, there are 7 (or even more) Mythical Artefacts, called the World Legacies and the heroes, around Avram, Longirisuu and Ib, want to find them. Each one of these Legacies are Level 5 or higher monster and correspond with one of the Archetypes contained in this Storyline. These are: “World Legacy – “World Chalice” with the titular “World Chalice” archetype, “World Legacy – “World Armor” with “Krawlers”, “World Legacy – “World Shield” with “Mekk-Knights”, “World Legacy – “World Sword” with “Knightmare”, “World Legacy – “World Crown” with “Crusadia”, “World Legacy – “World Wand” with “Orcust”, “World Legacy – “World Ark” with “Guar...

ACSCR: Number 194: Dark World Grimoire

Now we have a special case. We have a card, that references an archetype, in this case “Dark World”, in its name and Visual Design and which’s effect even has to do something with the archetype, but that is obviously not intended to be played by said Archetype. It seems that the card has this connection to the archetype solely, because it revolves around discarding in some Way, even if this has absolutely nothing to do with how the archetype works. Do you want to read the forbidden Script? It will curse you.   So, what does “Dark World Grimoire” do? It works only if you discard monster(s), because you exceeded your hand size limit. Then you can target one of those monsters and Special Summon it. So, this Card deals with one of the most forgotten Mechanics of the Game: The hand size limit. If one player has more than 6 cards in his hand during his End Phase, he must discard till only 6 cards remain. This comes rarely in Play, because most Decks nowadays empty their entire Hand i...

ACSCR: Number 195: The Resolute Meklord Army

Rounding out the bottom five of this List is another card from an 5Ds archetype, a trend that will not end here. What’s even more baffling is, that all 5D cards in the Worst Ten of this list are cards from Archetypes that were played by Villains of that series, in this case Aporia. And the card we are going to talk about, namely “The Resolute Meklord Army” has even more similarities to cards I already discussed. Like “Electromagnetic Shield” it provides underwhelming Battle Protection and conflicts with some Parts of its own Archetype and like “Temple of the Sun”, it was not even in the Anime. So, we are already not on a good start with this card and it will not get better from here on out. Granel's Arm Movement makes me a little bit uncomfortable “The Resolute Meklord Army” gives all your “Meklord Army” monsters in Attack Position Battle Protection, but negates their effects. On first evaluation this effect does not sound too bad, giving your monsters battle immunity by sacrif...
